August's Journal
October's Journal
xx/09/2025
OK, I'm getting really behind on journal entries now. It's probably all down
to the fact that I don't do it at the end of the day before I leave the office
and cycle home. I get the feeling I might stop doing journal entries at the
end of this year. I'm not quite sure. Anyway...
September began with the last day of Rel and my cycle tour of the flatter
parts of the UK. I forget how much I told you about it last month, but it was
three days of ~50 miles per day between Kings Lynn and Great Yarmouth (or close
by, I forget now). That was excellent and definitely left me feeling like we
could do something a little more strenuous in a prettier part of the world if
we decide to do something similar in the future.
A few weekends later and the two of us were off to Yorkshire to take part in a
trail marathon called the Yorkshireman. Neither of us was intending to race
it too hard, so we stayed together (I just about managed to stay with her) and
we had a lovely, if a little tough, day out on the moors. Immediately following
that we drove to see my parents and then off into the wilds of Wales for a few
days to see the sights and generally have a lovely time in a few different
locations. Much touristing and staying in places such as an amazing B&B on
the Great Orm were had.
A weekend at home and then it was time to help Rel's friend since school, and
now school teacher, take a gre dozen children up Mam Tor in the middle of the
night. That was... an experience, and just reinforced my respect and
appreciation for teachers.
In between all that I was kept busy at work beginning the process of recreating
a large amount of RHEL 8 VMs as RHEL 9 incarnations. I managed to get it down
to a fine art, where no matter how many I had to do, it took me about 25
minutes from tear-down to handing over the new VMs to the developers. Plenty
of other work went on too, but that work I was particularly proud of doing.
