July started 'auspiciously' with my semi-mandatory in-person attendance of an ITIL4 course at work. Despite my intentions I actually engaged and participated, possibly more than most other people on the course. While I don't expect to implement most of the word salad we were forced to consume, I can see the point of lots of it, and I'm sure by osmosis some aspects will influence my day-to-day operations.

The second proper weekend of the month I headed off to see my parents, but also squeezed in a day of running in the Peaks with Rel. Not quite as much as we had been planning on doing, but still a nice day out with her. The following week was one of normal work, although I was back in the office for a staff meeting, before being home for the end of the week to have the extractor fan in the shower room/toilet replaced after the last one gave up the ghost. I'm not sure how much effect it has on the moisture level in there when the shower's on, but it's better than it being broken.

The following weekend Rel, her mum, and I went to the Olympic stadium to see some more athletics (Diamond League), which was great. Always remember to pack a decent amount of food and drink, given how expensive the food is at places like that. Rel and I headed to mine after that. The week following was my yearly "do lots of rowing in the evenings" week. It went pretty well, and I didn't get any blisters, or injuries, which is always a good thing at my now advanced age.

To round off the month Rel and I headed to the North Downs Way to do the final bits of recce for her upcoming 100 mile race (her first). Caterham to Otford, Maidstone to Detling, and then after an overnight stay in a lovely AirBnB, Detling to Ashford, Kent. Two lovely days on the trails, barely getting lost, and setting us up (I'll be pacing her from Detling to Ashford on the day) to know the route and what's coming around every corner.
