April's Journal
June's Journal
31/05/2024
I'm really bad at keeping this journal these days. There's no getting away
from it. I think it really is because it's what I used to do before leaving
work/the office for the day, and now I work from home. Anyway, let me tell you
about May.
The first thing of note is that the Pasta Evangelists gift voucher I got for a
present was redeemed finally, with the pasta arriving by post while Rel was
pacing someone for a 100 mile ultra and I was at home doing much shorter runs.
We had the first of two meals the following day when Rel arrived after her
pacing duties and had recovered from a night without sleep. The Monday bank
holiday was spent doing lots of fun things in town.
Much of the rest of the month was spent doing DNS server migration prep work, patching hosts, getting an actual rowing session in on the water(!), and looking
forward to any time possible with Rel, who was her usual busy bee self.
Very importantly, my father had surgery on his throat in the last week or so of
the month to remove some potentially pre-cancerous cells from his vocal chords.
He wasn't allowed to talk for a week or more afterwards, which coincided with
Rel and I visiting (Rel of the back of another Dales Highway recce). That
weekend I also ran the Great Manchester Run (another half marathon) while Rel
got to cheer me on twice. I didn't break the time I was hoping for, but it
wasn't too bad an effort.
Then, suddenly, it was the end of the month, my dad's birthday (recovered well
from the surgery), and we were into June!
