January's Journal
March's Journal

28/02/2025
Sorry, I completely forgot to do this month's journal entry. Call it not being in the habit any more coupled with having a lot on. Let me get into it...

I've got the whole of January minus a few days and all of February, so I'll try not to go on at too great a length. Work-wise I got a fair bit done initially, with a few of the oldest remaining servers (RHEL 6) being decommissioned, lots of Q1 patching and rebooting on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and the start of two big support calls (one with two different vendors, and one with a third) which took up a lot of my time for a while. They carried on for most of January and February and even into March, which I'll try to remember to mention in the next entry. Suffice it to say initially things were quite frustrating, although the support staff in both cases were actually pretty good. Otherwise there was a lot of the usual day to day work to keep the place ticking over.

Outside of work Rel and I tried to make a bit more time for each other. We had a fantastic brunch date in early January, and a coffee date in the middle of the working day in mid-February. We need to repeat at least one of those some time soon. Rel did a few cross country events, I picked up my running training again, but somehow, without really changing my training load re-irritated my right achilles tendon. That got progressively worse over the tail end of this month and is still causing issues in March (again, more on that in the next entry). I did my January trip to see my parents in Manchester and Rel and I took a day out to the Peak to run together. It was cold and boggy, but we had a great time, having come from different directions and meeting on a cold and windy Edale station platform. Rel went skiing with her brother's family in February while I stayed home and wished I could have caught up on my running a bit. To keep from going mad, and also to maintain my strength and cardio fitness while not running I rejoined the gym and after a week of just doing strength training, got back on the ellipical and the erg. I did my February trip to my parents and had a good amount of time with Rel working from (my) home, which I always treasure. And that's about it for February.
