September's Journal
November's Journal
29/11/2022
[10:30] Yes, I know the date is November, almost a month late. I've just been
lacking in enthusiasm to write anything recently. It really does look like
not being in the office means I really don't get around to writing this thing
all that often. I think working from home is the issue. By the end of the
day there isn't really a defined point when the day ends, except when I turn
things off and go downstairs. At the point at which I run out of enthusiasm
for being at my desk there's nothing left to write about my day(s). But anyway
let me tell you about October...
Right at the end of September Rel volunteered at the London Marathon, which
meant she got a nice bit of swag. I returned from being at my parents for a
few days and got back into the swing of things work-wise. The second weekend
of the month we headed down to Chilworth to run a fun 38 mile ultra together
on the Downslink (from North Downs Way to South Downs Way). We both found it
quite hard, with Rel perhaps finding it at least as hard as me as she seemed to
be coming down with something. After that Rel and her mum went to Liverpool
for a few days (bucket list for her mum). The following few weeks were full
of early morning patching, running and gym, and me fighting with some RHEL 6
hosts as I got them to surrender their secrets and allow me to migrate apps from
them to newer hosts. Then Rel headed off to east Africa and DRC for the first
time in a long time. While she was away I continued my weekly Invisalign
appliance changes, did more patching, and after a lot of struggle got a doctor
call to discuss my potentially too-high blood pressure (family history),
cholesterol levels, and potentially whether it was time for a prostate check.
Seems like a lot, doesn't really feel like it in retrospect.
